Parte 1: 8 preguntas

Interview

Ocho preguntas sobre ti y tu día a día. Las dos primeras tienen 10 segundos de respuesta y las otras seis, 20 segundos. Empiezas a hablar al oír el pitido.

1Where do you live?

Ver respuesta modelo

I live in Bilbao, in a flat near the city centre, with two friends from university.

2Do you work or are you a student?

Ver respuesta modelo

I'm a student. I'm in my third year of a degree in engineering.

3What do you usually do at the weekend?

Ver respuesta modelo

On Saturdays I usually play football with some friends in the morning, and in the evening we often go out for dinner. Sundays are quieter: I tend to stay at home, catch up on my studies and maybe watch a series.

4Tell me about a place where you like to relax.

Ver respuesta modelo

There's a small beach about half an hour from my town. It's never very crowded, so I go there to read or just listen to the sea. It's the best place to switch off after exams.

5How often do you use public transport? Why?

6What kind of films do you enjoy watching?

7Tell me about a celebration you enjoyed recently.

8Would you like to live in another country in the future? Why or why not?

Parte 2: dos mensajes de voz

Voicemail messages

Dejas dos mensajes de voz. Para el primero lees una situación; para el segundo escuchas el mensaje de una amiga y le respondes. En cada uno tienes 20 segundos para prepararte y 40 para hablar, y tienes que tratar los tres puntos.

1Voicemail 1. You have booked a table at a restaurant for a friend's birthday dinner on Saturday, but you need to change the booking. Leave a message for the restaurant. In your message:

  • say who you are and give the details of your booking
  • explain what you need to change and why
  • ask whether they have vegetarian dishes
Ver respuesta modelo

Hello, my name's Laura García. I booked a table for six people this Saturday at nine o'clock, for a friend's birthday. I'm afraid I need to change the booking, because two more friends have just told me they can come, so we'd need a table for eight. If possible, we'd also prefer to come a bit earlier, at half past eight. One more thing: a couple of my friends are vegetarian, so could you tell me if you have vegetarian dishes on the menu? Please call me back on this number. Thank you!

2Voicemail 2. Listen to your friend Kate's message and reply to her. In your message:

Aquí puedes escucharlo hasta dos veces.

Woman: Hi, it's Kate. Listen, I'm thinking of joining a gym, and I know you've been going to one for a while. I can't decide between the one near the station and the one by the university. Could you call me back and tell me what you think? Thanks!

  • tell Kate which gym you would choose and why
  • give her some advice about starting at a gym
  • suggest going together one day
Ver respuesta modelo

Hi Kate, it's me. I got your message. If I were you, I'd choose the gym by the university. It's a bit more expensive, but it's much bigger, it's open until eleven and it's never too crowded. My advice is to ask for a free session with a trainer at the beginning, so they can show you how to use the machines properly, and don't try to do too much in the first few weeks. Why don't we go together one day next week? I usually go on Tuesday evenings. Call me back!

Parte 3: elegir 2 de 4 fotos

Talk

1Your town wants to encourage young people to spend more time outdoors. Choose two of the ideas in the photographs and say how each one could encourage young people to spend more time outside.

Ver respuesta modelo

I've chosen the outdoor cinema and the new cycle lanes. First, an outdoor cinema in summer would be really attractive for young people, because it's a cheap and social plan. Lots of teenagers spend their evenings indoors watching films on their phones, so this would get them to do the same thing, but outside and with friends. As for the cycle lanes, I think they would make a big difference, because many young people would cycle to school or university if they felt safe. At the moment the roads are too busy. With proper lanes, cycling would become part of their daily routine, not just something they do at the weekend. Overall, I think the cycle lanes would have the biggest long-term effect.

Parte 4: 6 preguntas

Follow-up questions

Seis preguntas relacionadas con el tema de la parte 3. Tienes 30 segundos para cada respuesta: da tu opinión, una razón y un ejemplo.

1Which of the two ideas you chose do you think would be more popular? Why?

Ver respuesta modelo

Probably the outdoor cinema, because it's something you can do with friends and it doesn't require any effort. The cycle lanes are more useful, but some people simply don't like cycling.

2Why do you think some young people spend less time outdoors than in the past?

Ver respuesta modelo

Mainly because of screens. Most entertainment is on our phones now, so there's less reason to go out. Also, many parents worry more about safety than they used to.

3Should schools organise more outdoor activities? Why or why not?

4What outdoor activities did you enjoy as a child?

5Do people in cities have fewer chances to enjoy nature? Why?

6How could technology be used to encourage people to go outside?
